The Civic Association is planning the annual Christmas in the Park coinciding with Luminary Night a special night in Park Hills! Each year, we place candles in small bags filled with cat litter or sand and place along the each street in front of the house of participants. Residents can order kits from the Avant Gardeners, our local garden club. Each kit consists of 12 paper bags, 12 candles, and 1 ten-pound bag of cat litter. Many residents order a couple of kits to place in front of their house. At the appointed time, usually around 5:30, everyone lights their luminaries for all to see.  Then the Civic Association has their special event such as “A Dickens Christmas” or “Christmas in the Park”. It is always a beautiful way to celebrate the season!   

  Also on Luminary Night, Christmas in the Park is the annual Progressive Dinner hosted by members of the garden club. The dinner follows the tree-lighting ceremony in Trolley Park. Anyone in Park Hills is invited and is a great way to see old friends and make new ones. Each year, we have three host homes to participate for each course of the dinner: appetizers, soup/salad/bread, and dessert. Each host opens their home but the Avant Gardeners bring the food and drinks.  Each year, we select homes that are in close proximity so that diners will not have to walk far. Even though we don’t know what the weather will be like, it’s always fun to walk to each house while are city is lit up with luminaries. All garden club members will receive an invitation but if you would like to be included, please email or call as per below.
